Discrimination of Intellectual Disability Grades using the VMI-6

Abstract
The current study aims to examine the clinical validity of the VMI-6. Difficulties in discriminating between first and second-degree intellectual disability with IQ tested by the K-WAIS in accordance with the current regulations (provision 174. Welfare of Disabled Persons Act Enforcement Regulations). In this case, developmental quotients of individuals are estimated by non-verbal intelligence tests, such as VMI or BGT, to confirm the degree of their intellectual disabilities. The VMI has been recently standardized to Korean population by Hwang and his colleagues. At the same time, in this study, the discriminant accuracies of K-WAIS, Vineland adaptive behavior scale, and the VMI-6 were estimated with mentally disabled people, and made a comparison between them. Finally the meaningful results of this study, the limitations and the direction of future study were discussed.
